Just like when VH1′s TLC biopic was coming into fruition, the blogosphere is an uproar over Lifetime’s forthcoming Aaliayh biopic. This week the news of actress Zendaya Coleman taking the lead role as the late singer gave the critics even more ammo. However, TMZ is now reporting that Aaliyah’s uncle and former manager Barry Hankerson told them the late singer’s family is upset about the movie. He claims Lifetime didn’t contact any family members about the project.
Hankerson says the family will block any attempt on Lifetime’s part to use any of Aaliyah’s music. He says the family has hired a lawyer and will do everything they can to block release of the flick.
The family is not opposed to a big, theatrical film, but thinks a TV movie is too small for someone as big as Aaliyah. — TMZ
