Last week we reported that O’Shea Jackson Jr. had been casted to play his father Ice Cube in the upcoming N.W.A biopic, Straight Outta Compton. Now director F. Gary Gray has found two more relatively unknown names for his Dr. Dre and Eazy-E.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dre will be played by Marcus Callender, a classically trained actor and alum of New York’s Shakespeare Lab at the Public Theater with minor credits in Criminal Justice, Blue Bloods and Elementary. The Doctor initially wanted Michael B. Jordan for the role, but the Fruitvale Station star was busy shooting the Fantastic Four reboot.
Eazy-E, meanwhile, will be portrayed by the lesser known Jason Mitchell, who apparently landed the film’s lead role after an impressive out-of-the-park screen test. Mitchell has little acting experience and currently works in a kitchen, but like Callender, is relishing the opportunity to make this his breakout gig, we’re sure.
While no release date has been scheduled, principal photography for Straight Outta Compton is set to begin soon.
