Robin Thicke isn’t giving up so easy. The R&B singer is working on reconciling with his wife Paula Patton, after the couple announced their separation earlier this week. TMZ caught the 36-year-old arriving in Washington D.C., where shockingly he spoke quickly on their marital status. “I’m just trying to get her back,” Thicke told paparazzi as he exited the airport.

The couple’s relationship was strained following Robin’s unforgettable and much-publicized performance with Miley Cyrus at the 2013 VMAs, where things got wild on stage including Miley twerking on Thicke. Sources tell TMZ that Paula was livid and felt “utterly disrespected” by Robin’s antics with Miley last year at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
After cancelling the first few dates of his tour to travel to Canada where Patton was filming in hope of saving their marriage, Thicke posted a statement on his site thanking fans for their support. The tour kicks off tonight at Washington’s Patriot Center.
“I want to thank everyone for the well wishes these last few days. My fans mean everything to me. I’m looking forward to getting back on out on the road and performing in Washington DC this Thursday, and the rest of the tour. Looking forward to seeing everyone out there!”
